How Ofsted Inspections Work
Our schools are inspected by Ofsted
The type of inspection, along with the size of the school determines factors such as:
- the number of inspectors
- the length of the inspection (usually 2 days)
- the amount of notice a school receives
- what happens during an inspection
- the content of the inspection report
A typical inspection has at least one inspector visiting the school, following a framework to report on 4 key araes of school effectiveness:
- Quality of Education.
- Behaviour and Attitudes.
- Personal Development.
- Leadership and Management.
After the inspection, Ofsted releases their findings in a report. These reports are published on the Ofsted website and, in most cases, the school will have to share this report.
The content of the report depends on the type of inspection, but will generally describe the provider, then explain their inspection findings and judgements.
