Remembrance at Halfway
Halfway Houses were contacted a while ago by the Poppy Appeal Organiser for Sheerness, Halfway, Minster and Queenborough who is also a member of the Isle of Sheppey Royal British Legion. She mentioned that every year, they place little wooden crosses on the war graves in the cemetery at Halfway for remembrance by the IOL RBL. However, unfortunately due to the ages of these members, it is becoming increasingly difficult for them to complete this task themselves. So Halfway were asked if they would like to take responsibility for doing this each year. They were delighted and feel that this is a very rewarding and educationally relevant experience for their children. Our Head Boy, Head Girl and their deputies alongside our Ministers for Charity, assisted with the task this year.
Imogen said, "I think that it is really important that we do this, it is very respectful to the people who have died in wars."
"When people are walking by, they will see the crosses and remember them", said Mason.
